Scalloped Potatoes

INGREDIENTS

6 cups raw sliced potatoes                 1 onion (minced fine)

4 tbs. GF all purpose flour                 2 ½ cups hot milk

1 tsp salt                                             2 tbs. butter

¼  tsp. pepper

 DIRECTIONS

Place a layer of potato slices in a buttered baking dish.

Sprinkle with onion, salt, pepper and flour.

Dot with butter.

Repeat layers until all ingredients are used.

Pour hot milk all over top, and bake at 350° F. for 1 to 1 ¼ hours.

Serves 6

 VARIATIONS

Cover with 1 cup of grated cheese after baking for about 40 minutes.

Cover with ¼ cup rice bread crumbs, then 1 cup grated cheese after about 40 minutes of baking.

  1. VICKY, yes most all flours (white, all purpose, wheat, self-rising) at grocery stores have wheat in them. You have to shop at a health food store, like Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s, Earth Fare, etc….to find wheat free/gluten free items. My daughter & I are both wheat/gluten intolerant. I also cannot have corn & some other items as they seem to bother me, like malt, barley, etc.

  2. The “flour” in most of these recipes is Gluten Free All Purpose Flour.
    It is a blend of 1 cup rice flour
    1 cup tapioca flour
    1 cup cornstarch
    and 3 tsp. potato flour (not potato starch)
