Restaurant Review – Gabby’s in Newmarket

I went to Gabby’s restaurant for lunch yesterday. I have been wanting to go for quite some time and I must tell you that it was well worth the wait.

The restaurant is clean and cozy. There is music but it is not so loud that you can’t converse. The staff was friendly, efficient and knew all about Celiac disease and which foods are safe and which are made exclusively gluten free.

They even have a gluten free take-out menu!

I had chicken fajitas. The cold ingredients and the container with the corn tortillas came out first, followed by the chicken, onion, and red and green peppers on a sizzling pan. They were cooked to perfection.

I ate about half and was full. The waitress brought me containers to take my leftovers home and guess what I had for dinner!

My boyfriend had the Bison burger and onion rings (off the regular menu) and was well satisfied (he is a big eater)

The coffee was hot and delicious and refills came without asking.

All in all a very pleasant experience.

Want to know what else they have to offer? It is a large menu for both gluten free and regular dining.

Go to 16925 Yonge St. North of Mulock in Newmarket, Ontario or call them at (905) 967-1007

You can also visit them on line at

I am going again; maybe I will see you there!

How To Find Gluten Free Restaurants

We became aware of the problems Celiacs face when our daughter was diagnosed with Celiac disease.  As if it isn’t bad enough to have to deal with the problem at home, the much larger problem of eating when you are away from home, is somewhat daunting.

We decided to do something about it.  We have developed a guide so people can find restaurants that can serve them gluten free food wherever they may be.

It’s available free for everyone’s use, have a look!

Aunt Jayne thinks this site is BRILLIANT!!

New specialist eating out guide listing restaurants and cafes that cater for gluten-free and wheat-free across the UK

We’re a new specialist eating out guide listing restaurants and cafes that cater for gluten-free and wheat-free across the UK! We also cover eating out nut-free, lactose-free, vegetarian, vegan and a lot more so check out for what we’ve got.
The website has just been launched, and we’d love your help as we start out. We invite you to rate and review places across the UK (you’ll need a postcode to search), and get in touch with new listings if we haven’t already got your favourite restaurant on there. Just one review will make all the difference as we start to build this resource for gluten-free foodies. We know the site isn’t perfect, but we’re improving it all the time and it would be great to have your comments and views on what would make it better.
January competitions – only a few days left!
To encourage you to get involved, we’re running a couple of competitions in January. We are offering you the chance to win a free meal at the restaurant of your choice when you rate and review one restaurant, or get in touch with one new restaurant listing.* All you need to do is register here and get reviewing, or simply contact us through the site with information about a place you know.
However, I imagine you’ve got more than a couple of reviews up your sleeve, so we are offering the same prize to January’s Reviewer of the Month.* The prize for January’s Reviewer of the Month will go to the person who either writes the most reviews for us, or tells us the most new places to list. Of course you can increase your chances of winning by reviewing restaurants online and giving us new places to list!
* The winner and January’s Reviewer of the Month are entitled to £40 to spend at a restaurant of their choice. Terms & Conditions here.

Gluten Free in Boston’s North End

simplicity demands the finest ingredients

90 North Washington Street

Boston, Massachusetts 617-723-6326 Fax: 617-723-6327

About 4 yrs ago my sister Christine and I opened nebo restaurant at 90 N. Washington St. in Boston’s North End. Nebo is a traditional Italian restaurant offering dishes based on recipes that were passed down from our mother and grandmother.  After being open for about a year, two of our closest friends were told they had Celiac disease.  We then realized just how many people this disease has affected and the need for an alternative for their dining restrictions. Determined to serve our friends their favorites, we set upon making our menu available in a gluten free form. We are thrilled to say that we have now produced 90% of our menu with the same great taste as our regular menu. We don’t think there has been an accomplishment that has brought us more pleasure. If you would like us to forward a copy of our Gluten free menu please send a menu request to .

-Just a taste of our menu-

misto fritto – crisp shrimp, calamari, smelts, mediterranean aioli

sale e pepe – sea salt and white peppercorn marinated chicken wings

Nebo’s stylish décor, reminiscent of modern Italy, is all natural wood, chocolate suede and brick surrounding a 120 person capacity dining area and a full bar showcasing a magnificent marble top, glass shelves and plasma televisions.  This creates the perfect setting for the enjoyment of one of our specialty martinis or a bottle from our “Wine Spectator Magazine” award winning wine list. Nebo’s list features 150 Italian wines and a cellar list for the true wine enthusiast.

Monday – Wednesday 5pm until 11pm

Thursday – Saturday 5pm until late night

Your Belly Knows The Good Gluten Free Restaurants

Getting to know was created to help individuals with dietary restrictions such as celiac disease locate and find delicious food at their favorite restaurants.  The emphasis of is the content – detailed restaurant and menu information in as many locations as possible.  The interface is intentionally clean and simple, allowing users quick and easy access to the information they need. is different from most restaurant websites in that it provides menu items specific to dietary needs at restaurants ranging from national chains to local mom and pop joints. does not include any restaurants without accompanying menu information since the actual menu items is what the users of are looking for to make an appropriate dining decision.  Quality, detailed, accurate restaurant data helps differentiate from the large restaurant listing websites.

Users are encouraged to add their feedback by adding restaurants, menu items and commentary.  The community of gluten free individuals (and other dietary/nutrition groups) is very passionate about their health and nutrition.  It is because of these individuals that is much more than a restaurant database; rather, it is an evolving information-based community growing and being shaped each day into the ultimate resource for food lovers with dietary needs.
